A truly relaxed and perfect place to watch the sun set on a summer's evening. Drinks and food are casual but good and the service is very friendly. They have live music on some nights. They also have blankets on the beach for sunset yoga and drinks. Best to book.
Smugglers
Just a 5 minute walk down from the house, past the church, this is a favourite with locals for a drink and good bite to eat. Sit under the tress on a balmy evening or inside if you prefer. Booking is advisable vis their link on Facebook.

Just a stone's throw away, down the side of the Balzan church, this is a wine bar with simple platters and pasta dishes. They have live music outside in the summer. An easy place to go to if you can't be othered to cook. Booking advised.

This restaurant started in a tiny hole in the wall location behind the Lija church and was such a success they had to move to bigger premises. Now based 5 minutes walk away in the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Bahia is a very special restaurant which has deservedly been awarded a Michelin star. They have 3 tasting menus to choose from and it is not a quick or casual affair, take your time and enjoy!
Giuseppi's
https://giuseppisrestaurant.com/
Chef Michael Diacono took over Giuseppi’s in 1983, with most of his inspiration hailing from his infamous mother’s kitchen (Rita). Giuseppi’s has remained one of Malta’s leading establishments for over 35 years now. His cuisine is good honest Mediterranean food with a lot of Maltese influence.

It is surprisingly difficult to find a restaurant right on the water even though we are on an island. This is a good, casual restaurant offering a very varied menu from fish (delicious baked in salt)to yummy pasta dishes. Go for a stroll and admire all the boats after you've had your fill.
Briju
https://www.facebook.com/BrijuMT

Briju is a Maltese & Mediterranean restaurant, serving exquisite dishes made from the finest produce. Dine in or arrange for them to cater at home for you.
Noni

One of Malta's finest restaurants with a Michelin Star. A great place to celebrate an occasion or simply to sample outstanding Maltese inspired food.
Trabuxu

The selective and seasonal menu of fresh fish, meat and pasta ensures patrons are guaranteed a quality dining experience. The dedicated and vibrant serving staff are ready to recommend a wine from their extensive wine list, to complement your meal.
Bookings are recommended in order to avoid disappointment.
Xara Palace

Choose the award-winning fine dining de Mondion, perched on Mdina’s bastions or the more relaxed, al fresco Trattoria AD 1530 in the palace’s courtyard. ‘Modern Mediterranean’, producing dishes that are both delectable and nutritious!
Beef Bar

This is one of our absolute favourite places to eat in the summer as it is right on the water and has the most divine cocktails and food. It is definitely a special occasion place but never disappoints. The one by the sea is a much more special setting than the city restaurant but the food is outstanding in both.
Sotto
https://zeroseimalta.com/stores/sotto-pizzeria/

The BEST pizza in Malta. They have several outlets but the one in Valletta is our favourite. Truly authentic.
Aki

A contemporary Japanese restaurant and lounge bar in Valletta serving delicious cocktails and Japanese inspired dishes. It has a great atmosphere and is always busy so book ahead.
ION Harbour

ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, where seasonality and local produce inspire an ever-changing menu.
From the vantage point on the fourth floor of the beautiful Iniala Harbour House hotel, guests can take in the most spectacular views of Valletta’s Grand Harbour whilst enjoying an unforgettable dining experience.
As one of the pioneers of the farm-to-table movement, British chef Simon Rogan’s menus are strongly guided by hyperlocal ingredients that are found, foraged, fished or harvested by the best, most ethical and sustainable local producers.
